On January 15, representatives of the “Centre for Education Projects” PIU and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia conducted a working visit to Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU). The meeting was also attended by Karen Trchunyan, an individualconsultant providing professional support during the YSMU grant project within the framework of the Projects implmeneted by the "Center for Education Projects" PIU.
The purpose of the visit was to monitor the ongoing Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF)implemented grant project. The Vice-Rector for Science of YSMU and the Head of the grant project, Professor K. Yenokyan, presented the progress of establishing the Brain Visualization Laboratory as part of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF). It should be noted that a modern and powerful Brain Visualization Laboratory is being established at Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi, which, by combining advanced microscopy, cellular computing, augmented and virtual reality features, will enable a comprehensive and immersive visualization of the cellular engineering of the brain, complementing it with sensory involvement. During the visit, the professional consultant of the ”Center for Education Projects” PIU Karen Trchunyan together with university representatives inspected the laboratory equipment and supplies purchased in the frames of the grant project, checked their compliance with the technical specifications outlined in the contract, and discussed the capabilities of the laboratory equipment. The scientific team showcased the lab equipment acquired through the program, highlighting its ability to provide static and dynamic "5D" imaging of brain cells and visualize the “delivery” of a drug, cell, or other imported particles into the brain. The representatives of the ”Center for Education Projects” PIU together with the representatives of Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the university representatives discussed the activities planned in accordance with the schedule of the grant project and the process of their implementation. The attendees confirmed that the area for the laboratory has been chosen, the construction design has been approved, and the renovation and reconstruction works would start shortly . It should be noted that equipment such as computers, video communication systems, and augmented and virtual reality devices acquired within the grant project were inspected during the previous monitoring visit. Additionally, to ensure the optimal application of the laboratory capabilities in the educational process, relevant educational content is being developed within the framework of the grant project.
K. Yenkoyan mentioned that within the framework of the grant project, the development and implementation of a new postgraduate program "PhD in Neuroscience" has started.
"The creation of such a laboratory, equipped with these capabilities, will significantly contribute to carrying out targeted research in the field," added the Vice-Rector.
