The World Bank Team Visited the Newly Established Preschools

On October 1, the World Bank delegation, accompanied byArmine Khachatryan, the Project Manager of the Center for Education Project PIU, and by Ruzanna Khachatryan , the head of the sub-component "Promoting School Readiness and Equal Opportunities at the Start of General Education", visited Yerevan Main School No. 110, on the basis of which the preschool, established within the framework of the ""Education Improvement Project Additional Financing" loan project, has become fully operational since September 01. Task Team Leader Ms Shizuka Kunimoto, World Bank Consultant Anna Malkhasyan and The Head of the Department of the External Affairs of the World Bank Yerevan Office Hasmik Soghomonyan were a part of the mission. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the preschool established within the framework of the micro-project. The guests were welcomed by the school principal, Asya Badalyan. The principal emphasized the importance of the micro-project implemented at the school, assuring that the effectiveness and quality of the educational process will be significantly improved due to the conditions created through the grant project. The visitors, accompanied by the preschool director,toured the newly established preschool and visited the preschool yard, as well. The principal presented the process of establishing the preschool, discussing the challenges they had overcome and what lies ahead. The principal noted: "The preschool, designed for 25 children, is the brightest and the coziest corner of the school," It’s worth mentioning that this preschool is one of the nine preschools established in Yerevan in the 2024-2025 academic year.
As a result of the implementation of the project, the area envisioned for the preschool establishment has been completely renovated and the preschool has been furnished with appropriate modern equipment and furniture, educational materials and toys. Additionally, the teachers have undergone training. The guests also visited No. 99 and No. 167 Yerevan Schools, where newly established preschools have been fully operational since September 1, 2024.. The World Bank representatives toured the play corners, flipped through the children's drawing albums, which once again confirmed that the children learn to count, distinguish the seasons, and identify colors in the preschools. It’s also worth to mention that, within the frames of the project, beautiful playgrounds have been built in the areas adjacent to the preschools.
According to the principal of School No. 167, the residents of the community value the role of the preschool in the area, emphasizing that it is a great joy that their children have the opportunity to receive education in comfortable and beautiful conditions. The guests were impressed by the results of the works done and emphasized once again the importance of micro-projects.
Additionally, it should be mentioned that in the frames of the project in the 2024-2025 academic year 20 preschools have been established in the regions of Armenia and in Yerevan.
