The representatives of the RA Ministry of Education and Science and the Center for Educational Projects PIU accompanied by the Project Manager for the CIF grant project of YSU Karen Trchunyan visited the Biological Faculty of the Yerevan State University and got acquainted with the ongoing works on the establishment  of the “Bacteriological Biotechnologies and Biological Fuel Innovative Center” established within the framework of the CIF. The implementation of the project was launched  in December 2013, when  C I Fgrants were provided to six higher education institutions within the framework of the Education Improvement Project.

It is expected that the improved and innovated trainings will be included in the bacteriological MA educational programs within the framework of the YSU grant project , it is also expected that the purchased up to date bacteriological equipment will be applied and tested in the master’s and candidate’s scientific-research works. The establishment of the center will contribute to the modernization of fundamental and applied researches, the elaboration and investment of new bacteriological technologies in beer, dairy products, wine and other productions, the elaboration of new technology on receiving biological fuel from organic waste products.

The establishment of the center is implemented according to 4 stages set by the grant agreement . As a result of the monitoring visit  at the end of the first stage of the project it was registered that the renovation and furnishing of the territory of the center and the purchase of computer and domestic equipment has already been completed. The purchase of laboratory equipment, chemical materials and laboratory items is in process. The Project Manager also informed that the work on revision of the professional educational programs has already started, he notified about the process of cooperation with the consortium partners.

It should be noted that the Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Scientific-Technological Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the “Yerevan Beer” CJSC and the “Chanakh” LTD are participants of the consortium established within the framework of the project. This cooperation will contribute to the inflow of high-quality specialists in the production and will expand the investment of innovative approaches to the production.

“Relations between higher education institutions and-scientific and research institutes, between higher education institutions- and business partners from production sectorare strengthened, the gap is filled up between the labor market and higher education institutions  and the essential change in the educational programs is provided due to such cooperation,” mentioned Karen Trchunyan, attaching importance to the joint work.

Recall that the “Applied Biology Excellence Center” has operated at the Yerevan State University since 2015. It has also been established in the frames of previous grant project implemented by YSU in 2013 in the CIF pilot stage under Education Quality and Relevance Second Project.. The participants of the meeting expressed a hope that the mentioned center will be also actively involved in the research conducted with ultra-modern equipment, as well will stimulate the cooperation between the Yerevan State University of Armenia, business and scientific spheres.
